Default 83 cc burning up battery posts and resistor

So far have rebuilt the motor, and replaced all the cables on the batteries
and to the motor. Club Car Mechanic suggested I double up the battery
cables which I did. Still the third speed resistor has burned out a couple of
times and the post have melt off 3 batteries. Car has a tendency to jerk when
you start and is worse in reverse. Batteries are year old. 36V

This cart is very fast i.e. 35 mph down a small hill.

Any suggestions

Thanks

36 volt put in 6 new trojans. now have a little mix have replacing a couple of
the batteries. Have the third one to replace, if I decide to mess with it.
Stock tires and everything else. Lights, horn , fans, have been added on.

the motor does not have any markings as far as I can remember. I think all
the guy did was change the brushes. He only charged $100 and he does good
work. He has done both my pool pump motors also. After the first battery post was burned off, I took the motor back to him to see if that was causing the problem. He said it was running great and he showed me on the bench.

any ideas thanks

the standard resistors on that car CAN NOT handle a 35mph car.... Doubling up battery wires is useless if the resistors aren't set to handle increased amps. You need to switch to a speed controller system.

thanks for the reply. I knew there had to be something going on. how do I switch to a speed controller, and what kind of money are we talking about.

my wife bought this thing several years ago, and I have been trying to get it to work. when it is running it is a blast.

Hello. Let me stick my 2 cents in here. First there is no way on earth a stock 83 CC is doing 35mph under it's own power. It was set up to do about 12-14 mph on a golf course - no more. So maybe you are flying down a huge hill and getting that kinda speed but believe me no stock cart is going that fast under power. GPS it!
Upgrading to speed controller is expensive and you will need a better mechanic than the one who told you to double up the cables to fix this problem to pull it off.
You may need to get a new set of batteries after a load testing because unlike socks mix and match batteries do not work well together typically.
You might want to consider upgrading to a V-glide system. It was the successor to your cart and is still a good system with only one solenoid! For less.
I know - it is only one persons opinion...Good luck

Speedb

Thanks for the reply, but we have 2 radar monitors in the neighborhood and they put this cart over 30. I have caught cars and could pass them.

Always suspected this might be the problem, but can't find the answer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do know the motor gets hot also, if that helps anyone.
