Re: 83 cc burning up battery posts and resistor
if the cart is going that fast and the motor is getting hot something sure isn,t right i have to agree i have never seen a cart that age with just upgraded battery cables do over 15 miles an hour but i can,t say yours isn,t but if it will do better than 30 it should also lay a nice strip of rubber........i have to tell ya a hot motor isn,t good if its jerking at take off you have a resistor problem and more likely a few solenoids bad so when you hit the pedal its just high speed........just another opinion but leaving it that way is going to smoke that motor maybe behond repair.......they can,t handle all that voltage at once all the time thats why its set up for gradual speed increase.................................i think if you want to keep this cart running start trouble shooting why its running this way.....................

Hendricks motor sports? Think it's Hendrick motor sports, if wrong would be asking long lost cousin for a job.

Could your motor be a 24 volt motor? Your motor rebuilder should know.

Re: 83 cc burning up battery posts and resistor
I have seen motors that are starting to blow start going faster the last few months of their life also.. something about welded fields etc... It's been so long since I seen that I don't remember what happened.

Re: 83 cc burning up battery posts and resistor
Ok, jacked the cart up and this is what I can make out on the motor.
General Electric 36V 2800RPM can't read 60 min 40 amp temp GEJ 3122 serial # ATN FR 48 This give anyone any clues? How do I check to see if the solenoids are good? Thanks a lot. john |

Re: 83 cc burning up battery posts and resistor
with cart jacked up and in forward slowly press pedal the 1st faint ckick followed by a louder click is the main solenoid ( far left one ) than the next faint click followed by a louder one is 1st speed at that point wheels should be slowly turning than another set ( faint than loud ) is 2nd speed wheels should turn a bit faster............there should be 5 sets of clicks starting from left to right but i,ll bet you get no wheel movement until you get to the 4th and 5th set or just the 5th set.................................

Re: 83 cc burning up battery posts and resistor
Got the battery, jacked the bad boy up and slowly pressed the pedal.
Wheels start turning like a banshee and as I slowly keeping pressing i count 3 clicks total. Is this indicating a bad solenoid? |
