98 EZGO TXT Installed solenoid...won't stop beeping.
My 98 EZGO TXT would not go in reverse so I reversed polarity on the motor to see if it would wake it up. No such luck. That ended up killing its forward motion also. Solenoid would click but tires wouldn't move. So, replaced solenoid. Must have hooked it up incorrectly because now the reverse beeper beeps in forward and reverse and tires still do not move when pedal is pressed. Everything I try to do to fix it makes it worse. Uggh! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’m not sure what years used the different drive systems. Use the link above to identify the drive type of your cart. If it’s a series, there’s a good chance your f/r mechanism is out of adjustment or worn out. It’s a weak part of the series cart. |

Do you have a wiring diagram from the stickies? After you answer orangeman's post, you can download the right one.

Thanks orangeman6. From looking at your link it's a series. I took the f/r mechanism off, cleaned it up and made sure it was on good but still same problem.

yurtle, I got the wiring diagram but I have a lone white wire I cannot figure out which post of the solenoid it goes to. if any. I see it's in the same plastic tube as the yellow, but don't know what to hook it to? Any idea?

Correction. My TXT is a Sepex DCS.

So the FNR has wires, not cables, correct?

Correct. The F/R switch unit looks just like the silver circle shaped one in the picture orangeman6 sent me in his link.

Re: 98 EZGO TXT Installed solenoid...won't stop beeping.
The DCS controller defaults to forward and has to be told (pack voltage on pin-4) to go into reverse.
Hopefully you have been placing the Run/Tow switch in Tow (Maintenance) when disconnecting and reconnecting wires/cables. Otherwise the controller is probably toast. Sounds like it may have been when you got the cart. The DCS was EZGO's first attempt with a sepex drive and the controller was a failed design. It was replaced by the PDS in 2000. Don't waste your money on a new, rebuilt or otherwise stock DCS controller. Get an Alltrax XCT48400-DCS. |

Re: 98 EZGO TXT Installed solenoid...won't stop beeping.
Johnnie B, I have been switching it over to tow/maintenance mode before moving cables around, however I am sure I could have messed something up anyway. Definitely a rookie at golf carts. With the reverse beeper going off constantly, my attention is naturally going to the F/R switch. Could a faulty F/R switch tell the controller it's in R when it's really in F or is that unlikely? I'll concede to purchasing a new controller as long as I know it's really the problem and not a less expensive part. Thanks for any and all advice.
