Default 48v cart on 36v?

I have been working on a build of a late 90s TXT lately and have installed an altrax 48500 and 400 solenoid, as well as super duty reversing contractors, all purchased from ScottyB. This cart came to me as basically a stripped frame and body, so I had no frame of reference, and I am dying to see if my wiring is correct. I have 6 brand new 6v batteries in my old 86, so I am wondering if I can use them for a short test of my wiring. I know the setup I have can run on 36v, but the difference in the 48 and the 36 is the resistor on the solenoid. I currently do not have the appropriate resistor to run on 36v, but for testing purposes, can I put my 6v batteries in and see if I hooked up the wiring correctly? Will the cart function if I did this? Is it dangerous to do so?

It will work good enough, and won't damage anything.

Went to take it for a test spin and it did great until I tried going uphill then it started jumping and cutting out on me. Is this because I am not running enough volts resulting in too many amps being drawn or do I have another issue?

DO NOT run a SW202 48v reversing contactor on 36v.
Doing so will damage the activation coils.

OH, Disconnecting now.

If I ran it at 36v for about 50 yds, will that have damaged anything?

I guess the good thing to note is that it seems to be all wired up properly and running fine. Motor and axle run exceptionally quiet compared to my 86 with the torque gears.

Got the batteries all removed and ready for some 8v. Just hope I didn't cause any damage.

Any input on whether a 50 yd drive would have hurt my f/r contacts?

50 yards probably no problem.
