Marathon 36v to 42v
I’m looking to up the amperage to the stock motor from 36 to 42. What do I need to do this to my 84 Marathon besides a battery? And where can I put it?
Or can I do this with stock parts? Thanks Joe |

Re: Marathon 36v to 42v
Joe, I’m just a novice myself but also upgraded the voltage on my 36v series cart. I did it with lithium, but it doesn’t matter.
You have to make sure your controller is capable of 42v. You need to get the model number and look it up. The solenoid also has to be capable of 42v. One of the experts can probably tell you if there were any stock 84 marathons that were capable of it, but you might as well confirm. You’d also need a charger capable of 42v The extra battery can be put under the seat on the drivers side. I’d start by posting here about what you want the cart to be able to do. What type of speed are you after? Hilly area? Pavement or trails? Tire size? Number of riders or carrying a bunch of gear. You’d be surprised what guys are capable of making these things do with time and $. You don’t want to spend more than you need, and you certainly don’t want to spend on parts that don’t get you quite where you want. Hope this at least helps some. |
