I have been busy with other things. No harm no foul.

Point me to getting some way to have that radio turn off when the cart does, that can be handled by a noob.

I'm waiting to hear if my suggestion has a fatal flaw. If not, I can sketch it up for you.

RXV controllers seem to be easy to blow up.

Sorry, gotta ask. Did you mean "newbie" or "knob?"

LOL. If he means "knob" it can be wired straight to the 12v source. That would also keep his presets until the reducer is powered down. If the reducer is triggered, how will he keep the presets?

Just asking.

Actually, the best and easiest way would be to return your reducer and buy one with a low current trigger wire. For that price, I wouldn't expect it to last very long. Buy one from a site sponsor.

His doesn't have a trigger wire at all, thus the complexity for a noob.

I'm pretty sure the one ScottyB sells has a 12 volt always on output, as well as switch 30 amps.

Yep, it does. #3

I misunderstood post #2.

No you didn't. I reread it and it makes no sense. It should have said 12 volt reducer, not relay.

At that point, he never mentioned he had a reducer, so I gave him your sketch, and asked where he was going to find 12 volts. I wasn't clear that your sketch was intended to be merely a safe switched power source.

I kinda rushed a response, in the hope he'd read it before he turned it into a smoke machine.

At this point, I think OP needs to either use a relay, or buy the correct reducer. I can sketch it up, but I thought the description in post #8 should have been adequate. After all, he was about to go tapping random wires in search of a switched 48 volt source. With a relay and the solenoid post you identified, he has everything he needs. Of course with the reducer I linked in post #17, he can follow your diagram.
