I stole this from a post, where he clearly stated those weren't shown. It's just a safe place to get switched power from an RXV.

Yep, it's a question that comes up very often, so I made a "quick & dirty" sketch.

Understood. I'm trying to learn here too. I have installed a fair number of reducers but never an RXV.

Here's how to connect the reducer you have now.

NOTE: You don't want to "burn the fuse".

Still cracking up over, "DC/DC Buck Transformer". As opposed to a DC/DC Boost Transformer.

EDIT:

If you choose to go this route, allow me to update the diagram first. The relay and reducer negative need to go directly to the pack negative, not tapped as my drawing indicates. Also, the relay coil positive needs to go to the solenoid post, not tapped as drawing indicates.

This is a quick "before coffee" sketch, that needs some tweaking. Other suggestions welcome.

So how do I keep the radio memory?

You can't with yours. You can with this:

What’s the point of the 48v relay in this setup?

I'm assuming the solenoid and wires for the controller aren't designed to provide an additional 10 amps +/- for the reducer. If wires aren't sized for controller plus 10 amps +/-, it will result in excess voltage drop, which might piss off the controller.

In essence, this will create a "trigger" wire, while minimizing the amperage draw on a circuit that's designed to only power the controller.

This is not an issue with reducer #3 here:

Do you have 4 twelve volts as in the drawing or 6 eight volts?
