You're using a PDS cart as a hunting cart? Risky move...

Aren't most manufactered hunting buggies shunt wound? (i.e. Bad Boy Buggies). A series cart may lend itself better to extreme requirements, but a properly set up seperately excited cart has its benefits. To be honest, the regen feature is an absolute requirement in some of the hilly terrain I find myself in. It is all about your needs/desires for the cart.

That being said, I have had no problems with my cart, but I try to avoid situations that could cause problems.

The PQ was a rebuild of my stock motor. I used the PQ for an entire hunting season and some in the spring. I put that motor to the test hauling heavy loads and long periods of half throttle. Then in the spring, I let my neighbor use the cart some. Well I forgot to turn the regen off, and he would wind it out to 30 mph and let the regen slow him down. I think that is where the problem started. The PQ motor still runs, but it was starting to emit an electrical burn odor and you could hear a whine at around 20 mph. As opposed to being stranded in the woods, I decided to change it out. I chose the GE as a recomendation from this forum for the most torque I could get. I really need to upgrade from my 400 amp controller one day, but it is not required so I doubt I ever do. With the GE motor, I can place a front tire on a tree and drive up to vertical, so I think I have enough torque, but always want more.

I still have the PQ rebuild of the stock. I told myself I was going to either send it in to be rebuilt to keep as a spare, sell it, or use it as a trot line weight. Well to be honest I set it in my garage and haven't thought about it again.
