electric ezgo overheating.
I have a 89? electric ezgo cart that overheats, to the point that the resistor is glowing, when I got it the wiring was suppose to be new. It has melted the plastic off of the cables to it and torched the fiberglass mat mounting...I figured some new cables, a new resistor, and mount mat and board. Any input would be greatly appreciated....

Re: electric ezgo overheating.
Sounds like a resistor cart. Got to be a tad careful with those when driving at less than wide open throttle. The resistor coils will light up cherry red when cart is driven extensively at less than full speed or with your foot completely off accelerator. That is the only time resistor coils are out of the circuit. Also, check the accelerator board and make sure the wiper arm goes all the way back down to the first contact when accelerator is all the way off.
Those carts were designed to be driven a couple of hundred yards and then stopped for a few minutes, oh say, 70-100 times for about four hours or so. |
