The only time I have ever seen anything even close to this amount of damage was when the customer had towed the cart for a long distance with the tow/run switch still in run. If the motor is toast also, then you will know.

Strip off the tubing and leave the hardware (caps) behind. Monitor for leaks and sepage.

Now that's an idea. I just called my local guy and he said he is out of "old" caps because he just got a shipment of carts with the BFS on them and he replaced all of them with caps.

Look carefully at the first pic and you'll see why they look " warped ". The tops are blown off! I've seen batteries blow up where the case is completely shattered and the plates are visible! That was in an automotive maintenance free battery, though. In those there are no fill tops to blow off.

I'll venture a guess that the seat covers were blown off too. Or at least required extensive cleaning to remove the brown stains.

Kidding aside, I've clipped the interconnecting tubes between batteries to limit an explosion to just one battery instead of chain-firing all six.
I left the three caps per battery connected so they are less likely to run away and hide while I'm checking/filling the cells.

I remember we had batts explode all by there self's out in the north forty were we kept pallets of them for recycling, every year or two we would here an explosion and go out there and find the one that popped it's lid.

I had no idea what a time bomb I was sitting on... the dealer told me how "great" the auto-fill system is...yeah off a cliff!
