Default Fine tuning Alltrax 500 and FNKS question

I installed my new Alltrax/solenoid on my stock-motored 2014 Precedent and added the FNKS module so I could limit the performance for my kids. I used ScottyB's settings from an earlier post for Mode 1 (mildest):

275 - 300 a Armature
regen 25-65 a
rpm 2500-3500
reverse 40 %
throttle 25-35 %
Turf mode
Turbo off

I like everything about this mode for my kids except that about the last half inch of pedal seems very touchy - almost like the Turbo option is on. And if the road is bumpy and my foot jiggles a little around that last half inch, it starts to buck like the Turbo mode is kicking off an on. Any suggestions on how to smooth that out? I know it's not my MCOR as it is new and works perfectly before I installed the FNKS and in the other modes with the FNKS...

I always thought turning the throttle rate down was the cure for this, but yours seems low enough already at 25-35%. And I’m guessing the throttle rate is higher in the other modes that don’t seem to have the same issue.

Following this one.

Yes, and the throttle rate feels very slow except for that last half inch. My other two modes have the Turbo option on, so I expect some extra throttle response on those. I thought about playing with the throttle curve, but that would affect all 3 modes. These are the settings I'm currently using:

Mode 1
275 - 300 a Armature
regen 25-65 a
rpm 2500-3500
reverse 40 %
throttle 25-35 %
Turf mode
Turbo off

Mode 2
375-400 a Armature
Regen 35-95 a
rpm 3500-4500
rev 50%
Throttle 40-50%
Turf mode
Turbo on

Mode 3
450 amps
regen 0 amps
Rpm 4500-6200
Rev 60%
Throttle 50-60%
Street mode
Turbo on

Maybe turn the throttle rate down some more?

My controller is setup similar (I.e. mild, normal and wild) and my throttle rates are 35, 50 and 95, respectively. Only real difference is I’m using the mode switch. I rarely use mild but I’ll see if I have the same results as you. My cart does do the same in normal and wild modes. However, I am using street in all 3 modes because turf caused too much of a lag with the decreased throttle rate in the mild mode.

Hopefully on of the BGW experts will chime in soon that understand the programming better than I do.

Reduce the ramp rate 10-15 or switch to turf mode and tell us what you get.
Also is your throttle set in a curve? You may want it lineal from corner to corner to eliminate exposition (faster pedal later in the travel )

Thanks, guys. I have to go out of town for a couple of days but I'll try it as soon as I get back and post the results.

Having the regen set too high always caused that problem for me. But I noticed you have mode 3 set to 0 regen. Does the problem still happen in mode 3?

I can’t really tell on the other two modes because I have the turbo option on and I kind of expect it to be that way. I’ll try it though when I get back.

This is my only gripe about the Alltrax verses my stock Curtis controller. You can’t set the regen to only kick in when fully lifting off the go pedal. I even emailed Alltrax asking if they can update the software to add this feature. Small price to pay for all of the benefits but I really hope they add this one day.
