On a PD2 this is true, on a PD3 it has a dual diode setup and works a little different as there is one on the primary and secondary.

The guy I bought the cart from swapped out the charger for me. This one looks like it’s barely been used! Disconnected the cart for 30 minutes and plugged in the charger. The charger clicked on after a couple seconds and went to 15. No needle shake at all. Let it go over night and took it out for a drive. Went 10 miles and didn’t get any illumination from the battery indicator light [emoji1303]
