Will a 1981 club car ds motor bolt into the rear end of a 1996 club car ds?

Re: 1981 club car ds motor
Most likely no. The 81 motor is a male spline and the 96 rear end requires a 10 spline female motor.

Would both motors be wired the same? Like A1 A2 S1 S2 are all consistent over the years?
