Batteries @ 60vdc when charging
2003 DS, 48v
Batteries are showing 59 volts, charger is at 5 amps. Should I leave it on till it shuts off on its own? I can hear some slight bubbling sounds as well. Batteries are not warm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Batteries @ 60vdc when charging
Jumped the gun. Just did a quick google search and apparently club car charges sit at 60v 3.5 amps to equalize the batteries when done. Almost there.....

You might see up to 65. It’s normal.

Re: Batteries @ 60vdc when charging
And I take it the bubbling sound is the batteries “desulfating”?

Ok, it’s slowly dropping from 5 amps now, I’m guessing it’s somewhere @ 4.5. Do you think once it’s done I should unplug it and then plug it back in? This car is new to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It also has a little bit of a sulfer stench to it. Still making gurgling noises, none of the batteries are warm.

Re: Batteries @ 60vdc when charging
This will be a good time to measure the voltage in each battery individually, set your meter to 20vDC.
Also, you need to leave the charger unplugged for more than 30 seconds or it will not start a new charging cycle when you plug it back. |

Re: Batteries @ 60vdc when charging
I'd say let it run. As long as the acid isn't violently bubbling and the sulfur smell isn't overwhelming and the batteries are cool and the current is low everything should be OK. How long have they been charging?

6 hours total charge time so far. It’s outside so venting is not an issue.
