Electro-Wizards Question
Building a custom on a 95 DS all stock setup except OBC has been bypassed and removed.
Intend to install a separate 12v battery for all accessories. Totally isolated from all cart electronics. Some of the lighting sockets I have been looking at buying are automotive type without a ground wire. I will probably have running, brake, turn signal and maybe back up lights. I know I could run a ground back to the 12v battery (in the front). With the only thing I know of other than the motor itself being connected to the frame, is there any reason I can't ground to it? Thanks! |

Re: Electro-Wizards Question
I know frame grounds are generally considered a bad thing in electric carts. I can see how it would be easy to cause a pretty dangerous spark if you’re not REALLY careful...
I’m sure somebody with better reasons will come in soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Electro-Wizards Question
It is a safety issue that electric systems over 24v cannot use the chasis for ground.
In your case since the 12v is isolated, the only reason would be accelerated galvanic corrossion with the aluminum frame and dissimilar metals due to the current. |

It's no big deal really just have to run neg. to battery on a bunch of wires. I might even put a grounding block at the rear just for this. Thanks! |

Re: Electro-Wizards Question
You got me thinking (and looking) Sergio. The shocks, leaf springs, shackles etc, have rubber bushings thus the motor is isolated from the frame.

Re: Electro-Wizards Question
I'd get some paired wire for your accessories. Makes for a cleaner and easier to trace later, job.
