Default Mystery Parts?

Can anyone identify these parts off of an old Club Car resistor cart?
What is their function. The solenoid is NOT the main contactor. There is another solenoid for that. The gray wire connects to an unidentified toggle switch on the dash.

Probably an added high speed "bypass solenoid."

Some sort of field weakening.

Flux Capacitor won't work on a resistor cart.

OK, thanks for the responses. I suspect the high speed/ field weakening answers must be correct. Would the red cables be connected in parallel with the S1-S2 winding?

Thanks for the schematic Mooncarter. I am trying to understand how it works but I haven't quite got there yet. That circuit is a little different than the mystery parts in that the solenoid is not turned on by a switch on the dash.

That diagram is the one I had created to show how to add a "High-Step by-pass" solenoid to a resistor cart.

The idea is that at WOT, the relay closes and the current flows from the Solenoid directly to the motor, by-passing the VGlide and resistor board.

Are there any other components on that little circuit board (I see a resistor, capacitor and small relay)?

It looks like maybe a timing circuit.

Where was that homemade magnet positioned, was it near the small solenoid to provide some kind of latching (or unlatching) mechanism?

I am thinking the "magnet" was not intended as a latching mechanism but rather a series inductance. I don't know how the two red cables were actually connected in the cart. Unfortunately I never saw it installed. I was given the part and asked "what is this for?". The small PC board has a 750 ohm power resistor, a small relay, a diode bridge and a 10,000 uf, 25v capacitor. I will try to draw a schematic and post it later.
