Default Re: Brakes lock up after installing a 4" Lift

Merry Christmas !

I installed the new longer brake cable, thanks David for the quick shipping.

If I tighten the equalizer to 2" as the diagram above, the pedal movement is perfect, but they lock up.

I have the loosen the equalizer to where the brake pedal goes half way down at least, then they start to grab without locking up the brakes. Anything tighter on the pedal and they lock up

Suggestions?

Do you feel any "pulsing" on the brake pedal?

No, they are doing the same thing as before. I either have it really loose, and the pedal goes all the way down before the engage , or if I tighten up the tensioner, they just lock up

Sounds like axle is moving(rotating). Make sure ubolts are tight, real tight. I had one cart I had to weld axle to unbolt to stop axle movement. Good luck.

I agree. Something is moving that shouldn't be.

Well, had I checked this up front, I probably didn't need the longer cable, and after installing the longer cable, wouldn't of still had issues.

I thought no way could it be this, I installed a brand new lift, and tightened everything then.

Well, I guess I forgot to tighten the rear U Bolts and rear shocks.

Guess what, they work !

Thank you all for you help, I was so frustrated I can't believe I did that!1

Happy New Year to All
