![]() I just got my first cart, a 90 model Easy Go. The cart I got is one that was used by real estate agents showing houses in a new subdivison. I was told by the repair shop that the batteries were left on the charger to long (4-6 months thru the winter) and ruined them. They said they repaired the diode in the charger and all I needed was to replace the batteries. This is a small engine repair shop and not a specialized golf cart shop. This weekend I checked the water in the Trogan batteries and plugged in the charger. Nothing. The meter on the charger did not move or make any sounds. Is this common with burned out batteries. I dont want to sink a bunch of money in batteries only to find out its the charger. Any help is greatly appreciated.

![]() You didn't say what type of charger but most will need to see a minimum voltage usually around 28v for the charger to kick on.
Get out your meter and check the battery voltages and also check the specific gravity of each cell in each battery with a good temperature correcting hydrometer. Search here for a state of charge chart or maybe scottyb will post it up for you. Likely the batteries are toast, but go through the routine and check them out first. Good luck. |

![]() Automatic chargers require a certain amount of voltage from the batteries to turn on. Most 36 volt chargers need 24 volts to do so. If the batteries were left on charge and they were dry, then they are toast
