![]() A friend has 99 Carryall Turf II XRT with the fe350 engine. The clutch on the engine will not close with any rpms so it will not move. It is spinning or it looked like it was while the engine was on. Anyhow, if we take this clutch off is it easy to rebuild to make it work? What exactly goes bad inside that will not let it close? Also he kinda messed up the clutch faces that the belt rides up and down on with a screwdriver. It has gouges in it that you can feel. Does anyone have a picture of the break down of this clutch? I called the stealership and they said the clutch is the same as an FE290 clutch, I used my 99 ds as a reference and she said the part numbers are the same.

![]() i,m not certain you can rebuild them, they used to sell the ramps and shoes and all the parts to rebuild but that was several years ago you may have to just replace it.............................................

![]() Well thats no good or I was actually looking at some sites that sell parts and the parts dont look cheap. Buying a used or new one may be cheaper if too many parts are needing replaced.

How deep and what direction? ""I did not tell you this"" but the faces can be cleaned by holding some emory paper on them while the engine is running. |

![]() They are deep enough but can probably be smoothed out. The real problem is it isnt closing to engage the belt.

![]() Check for threads from the belt wound up on the shaft and sticking the sheave first.
Take the clutch apart and look it over. |

![]() i would agree! take the belt off first. i have a clutch on the bench i can compress by hand. it may be something simple? if that fails remove it and takeit apart. it requires a puller to take it apart. a harmonic balancer type puller will do the trick to sepreate it once off from the cart.
seems i have read that you can even take it apart on the cart, but always seemed more of a hassle to me. -Aaron |

![]() yes you can rebuild the clutch have done many of them you'll probably have to get the kit from c.c. or a dealer . it is simple to do and yes use the puller make sure you mark the two half's with a magic marker so you line up the half's when you put it back together.just make sure you look at it before you take it apart on the inside

![]() I am hoping this doesn't become the issue on my cart as well......it has just developed a clanking when taking off.....then at almost top speed I get a clunk and a little more speed! Sounds dry.......does it have to be disassembled to lube?
