I could not locate a diode over the weekend. Could someone tell me what size of diode to get?

IN5408 3A 1000V Rectifier Diode

These diodes are one way paths for electricity. They are marked with a band typically white on one end. This banded end goes toward the + side of the solenoid activation circuit.
Reversed installation is a direct short when the gas pedal is depressed.

The MZJ400 solenoid does not have a marked + and - side like the smaller SW180 solenoid does.

The MZJ400 comes with the C54 kit. You simply land the banded end of the diode towards the + SMALL wire as shown in the solenoid instruction included and attached.

Correct. That is the way it was installed, per your instruction.

One small + wire on solenoid going to pot. The other going to con troller
