Can anyone help me in identifying these brakes?
Last night I posted a question asking how to adjust the brakes on my '94 Marathon and one of the respondents suggested I make the adjustment by turning the star adjustment wheel; however, as you can see from one of the attached photos, there is no adjustment wheel in my brake system. The serial number plate indicates my cart is '94; however, that doesn't mean that the brake system is a '94. I'm starting to believe I may have an even earlier brake system than a '94. As can be seen from one of the photos, the upper and lower springs are identical.
In a search I just did I found the following which makes me think the brakes are from before 1994: 3-1/4" brake shoe return spring used on top and bottom for gas and electric 1982-86 1/2 Parts book for the Marathon '94 show that the top and bottom springs are different. That is what makes me think that my brake system is from an earlier year. Does anyone recognize the brake system in the photos? Thank you. |

Your cable connects to the bottom, correct? THe top thingy does it extend out the back where you can get a wrench on it and turn?

Yep, those are the older style brakes. I believe they use the J10 shoes. Manual adjust as previously posted.
You can swap the hubs out for the newer ones and s/b a direct bolt on replacement IIRC. It's only money right? |
