EZ GO Identifying the problem with GO
I am working on an EZ Go that was flipped about 1 year ago. The cart sat and was brought to me to rebuild the battery tray, rewire (if I could) and then build bumpers and a roll cage for.
Finished the battery tray and reinstalled the 1 year old interstate batteries. I used opinions here to drill, tap, and helicoil a broken batter stud (I can give direction is need be) and repared some of the cables. I am now trying to trouble shoot the function of the cart. I followed the directions the best I could from the wiring diagram and rewired the batteries together and then to the positive and negetive leads. I was able to charge the batteries first with a 6 volt charger (before I hooked them up) and then with the 36 volt charger overnight. Before I charged overnight I refilled the batteries that were low (some very very low) with distilled water. In the morning I had 38.2 volts from the batteries and the charger had automatically shut off. When I turn the cart on i get nothing from the battery level display on the dash. I push the go pedal and I hear the selonoid click but the cart does not move. I am just hoping for some help in determining where to start. I have not yet tested the motor with the 12v charger test (did this on another cart and its works great!) and I have not yet removed the wiring off the controller, F/R switch, or the selonoid which all have heavy oxidation from the acid. I did check continuity and there seems to be continuity. |

Re: EZ GO Identifying the problem with GO
I went through the controller connections and cleaned them well. Then went through the wiring diagrams again to see if I missed anything. Had trouble figuring out where the 10-12 guage wire off the charger plug was supposed to go when I noticed the direction switch had a connector with two blades and only on blade had a wire on it. The wire had been cut so I ram an alligator clip jumper. Then I pulled the body and realized a wire to the key switch was burnt. I cleaned it up and replaced the female blade connector and turned the key on. I HAD A LIGHT ON THE BATTERY GUAGE! Touched the gas pedal and I had forward! Reverse still does not work, but I would imagine thats in the forward reverse switch mechanism. I'll work on it this weekend.
