2002 cc DS IQ 48V Troubleshooting Help
I have a 2002 DS IQ 48 Volt that is not working. The last time I used it, It died and went into the limp mode until I got home. Now when I turn the key on and press the pedal. I can hear the relay click in but nothing happens. Is there a troubleshooting procedure for this or has anyone else had this problem. The only fuse I could find is ok and there is 49.5 volts across the batteries.
Thanks for any help, Bill from The Villages FL |

Your batteries are dead. 50.9 is full. Get them charged first.

I just reread the batteries and they read 49.9 so I put them back on the charger. Are you saying that that extra volt is going to make it work?

No. But if they are weak or dead they could be dropping significantly under load. How old are they?

Re: 2002 cc DS IQ 48V Troubleshooting Help
I went to check if the solenoid behind the seat was working and it clicked on and the cart started working OK. I hate that because it means that I have an intermittent problem that I will see again. But, I got to thinking about the batteries and wanted to see what they read under load. so I attached a Volt Meter across the pack and read the voltage while cruising as fast as possible. They loaded down about 10 volts to 41 volts at max speed and returned to about 49 volts at crawl speed. Is that normal or are the batteries getting old. They are Trojen 875's about 4 years old. Replacing 6 batteries gets pretty expensive. I guess that I could check the SG of each one to see if one stands out as being bad. Maybe I'll see how long I can nurse these along.
Thanks, Bill |

Re: 2002 cc DS IQ 48V Troubleshooting Help
10 volts is a LOT, but that is not the reason it did not run when you tried it. It could have been an intermittent glitch with the OBC (control power) or most any of your electronics. Do not fret as glitches occur. In regards to the batteries, be sure the charge is complete and see what the pack voltage is 12 hours after a charge completed. You should have 50.9v's.
