bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
Hello all, my mom recently bought a Club Car Precedent (not sure of year) that came with a graph type voltmeter so I ordered a LED digital voltmeter from Carts Unlimited.
I talked to Scottyb about installing since the graph meter has 3 wires (2 red & 1 blk) and the digital meter only has 2 wires (red & blk). I tried installing per Scottyb's instructions of only using 1 of the 2 red wires however using either wire did not work. I have attached a picture of the frt and back of the graph voltmeter. I did verify the digital meter worked by connecting to a single battery. Any suggestions how I can or should wire the digital voltmeter would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
Those are the correct wires.
The fully insulated red wire is always +48v (factory). The other red wire should get +48v only when the Key switch is ON. The black wire is negative. The red wire power comes from the Tow/Run switch, Does the cart work? |

Re: bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
Sergio, right now all of the wires are disconnected and the cart does not run.
Do both red wires get connected to the one red wire on the digital voltmeter? |

Re: bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
Disregard my last post, I believe I just figured out what boneheaded mistake I made.
Can I leave the switched wire disconnected? Any guesses what my boneheaded mistake was? |

Probably had the cart in Tow...?
Just wrap some electrical tape in whichever positive wire You don't use to prevent a possible short. |

Re: bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
Rewired the digital voltmeter then flipped the tow/run switch back to run and still not working. The cart is not moving either.
Headlights are working though. Is there a fuse that could have blown? If so where is it located? Thanks |

Re: bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
If the cart does not drive and you don't hear the reverse buzzer it is likely that the main fuse is blown.
It takes a regular automotive ATO blade fuse of 15 amps. The fuse is located on the main harness near/under the Solenoid. You need to remove the electronics module cover on the back of the battery compartment. You should find the fuse holder on the bottom left (driver side) of the electronics module. Use the pictures below for guidance: |

Re: bar graph meter to digital voltmeter?
Thanks Sergio. I had to leave this morning so I will have my sister in law check it out in a couple of days.
Thanks again! |
