Default 95 ds headlight voltage question

I have a 1995 ds 48 volt that has headlights i would assume was born with - i want to replace them and everything i read wants a voltage reducer installed - if it already has headlights would it have a reducer on it already for the original lights ?? And if it does what would it look like - i don't see anything around the batteries or under the seat that might look like one -- thanks

Probably has a 16 or 24 to 12 volt reducer. Look on driver's side frame behind batteries. About 2 inches wide and about 6 inches long. Get rid of it and install a 48 to 12 volt reducer using whole pack.

Some of the older carts didn't have a reducer, they just ran the lights on 16V. It could have a ground side reducer where the lights get power from the last two or three batteries, and the ground wire from the lights is connected to the reducer, and the reducer will be grounded to the pack negative.

Follow the wires back from the lights. They should run under the floor along the frame rail and go to either the battery pack or to the reducer if it has one.

Like MC said, if it has a 16-12 or 24-12 reducer, replace it with a 48-12 reducer to help your battery pack stay balanced.
