Powertron VS Trojan
In the market for a new battery pack. Around here, Raleigh NC area, a 48V pack of Trojan T875,s are running 900 ish plus tax, vs the Powertron version for 720 ish plus tax. Is the extra 180 dollars worth in on the 875,s, or should I just go with the Powertrons. I've got a stock precedent, use it to haul the kids and cooler around the neighborhood on the weekends. Considering a small 3" lift with bigger tires in the future.
Just to confuse things more, just spoke with a fast talking sales guy that said he has US Batteries, GCE I believe, for 104. |

Re: Powertron VS Trojan
Us, Trojan and Crown are the best. I always went with the best price between the 3. I mostly has US's, some Trojans, and only a few times Crown. All were good, but my warranty service was best with US. Powertron is Trojan, but not their top-shelf.

Re: Powertron VS Trojan
I believe powertron is made by trojan...
US batteries are also good. I think you'll be perfectly fine with whichever you go with, all of those options are good and should last a long time if properly maintained (kept charged, watered, etc). I'd go with the best price |

Re: Powertron VS Trojan
Best price is the us battery at 104 and a 2 year warranty, next is the trojan at 129 with 18 month. Not sure if I'm comparing apples to apples though.

Re: Powertron VS Trojan
As Nole said, US, Crown, and Trojan are the best. Powertron is made by Trojan if the price is right (sounds like their price is pretty high to me, but that may just be your market).
I believe more important than the brand of battery is the maintenance. The best battery will still turn into junk real fast if not properly maintained. A cheap battery can last a very, very long time if maintained. Whatever is the best price is what I would pick |

Re: Powertron VS Trojan
I just bought new batteries today. With tax $630 out the door for 6 8 volt batteries. They are Precision batteries purchased from Pasco Battery. Their closest location to you is in Chesapeake Va. I had never heard of them but they came highly recommended by another member here, Mooncarter. He has been using them for a few years now and has had good luck with them so I decided to give them a try. They have 2 different prices for the same battery depending on what warranty coverage you decided on. The batteries are $89.95 with a 1 year replacement and 1 year prorated. for an additional $10 at $99.95 you get 1 year replacement and 3 year prorated. I went with the latter. They are charging now and looking forward to getting out on the cart tomorrow.

Forgot to mention I can get an additional 10% off of the Trojans.

Re: Powertron VS Trojan
So now I’m leaning towards USB 8VGC but as I research I’m seeing that the stock charger for my CC Precedent may not be a good choice for longevity on the USB. Looks like people are recommending a DPI charger, and bypassing the OBC. My head is starting to hurt. This site is like researching ailments on webmd.
