Chatering and hesitation
I have a 2000 1/2 Club Car Electric fully charged Battery's.
Just drove a 1/4 mile to our gate when I went to pull out from stop I herd a chattering gear sound front of cart felt like it was lifting up. I turned off Tow Run Sw then on when I pulled out I had the chattering again but smooth out I was able to make it back when I stopped and started again back to chartering sounds like gears. any ideas ? Re: Chatering and hesitation
That sounds like the brushes are going in your motor or are stuck in the holders.
You can jack it up and manually turn the wheels and see if it is a noise in the differential. |

Nolefan, I jacked it up turned the wheels no differential noise! hit the accelerator motor runs with a lot of vibration under load the cart sounds like a jack hammer. Does this sound like brushes?

Re: Chatering and hesitation
It actually sounds worse then just brushes, but it still could be and the motor is very easy to remove and inspect it. You can open it up once removed and visually inspect the brushes and holders along with more if needed.
Be sure to go to "Tow", then remove the pack negative before touching the motor cables. Soak the motor studs down with penetrating oil and then be sure to double wrench them to prevent breaking a stud or twisting off a holder. |

Re: Chatering and hesitation
NoleFan you were right on! Just pulled and opened the motor. One brush was out of the holder and their is slight damage to the Com. Motor full of carbon dust. I think I may op for a new motor it is a 2000 1/2 . Prior to retirement I Sold Eclectic Motors and parts to Electric Motor Shops if I was back in Pittsburgh I could have one of my many friends in the business undercut the com replace brushes clean and test and not take me too the cleaners. Thanks again!

Re: Chatering and hesitation
That's great news and a Sepex motor is easy to come by. Check in the For Sale section if you are looking for a stock replacement or infinite opportunities if you look for aftermarket.
