Were you able to so the continuity tests Tahoe suggested? This will quickly tell you if it is in the motor.

So i rechecked the motor and i get tone between a1/a2 and f1/f2. No tone from any post to the case. I tested the solenoid and it tested ok. I have the new controller here ready to install but wanted to make sure i tested all possible shorts before installing. Anything i might need to check before installation?

You are ready for a controller..... Nothing overlooked in regards to motor and solenoid.

Put in the controller yesterday and it runs like a champ. Thank you to all those who responded and helped.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. I was just curious about the turn signals because we had a cart do that same thing once. After swapping in 3 different controllers and 2 different motors along with new solenoids and smoked resistors we found that the turn signal flasher can was bad and it killed the cart. New flasher and all was well.
