Default LED light kit or halogen for txt

im purchasing a head light kit for a txt, seen there was an option for led for 120 and the halogen kit is 60. Does anybody have experience with both? Do the leds draw considerably less power? Can the bulbs be changed in the Halogens??? thanks

I only have experience with halogens as that's what I have. The LEDs pull a considerably less amount of power and run cooler. I've heard they're worth it, I just don't have any experience myself...

Yes, you can change your bulbs out, that's the route I took since LEDs weren't out yet when I bought mine. However, you should know that the LED replacement bulbs (although they appear much brighter) do not project as far out (distance) as the halogens. This is because the halogen light housing & reflector was designed specifically for halogens. And it's very noticeable.

I found an 80w LED that dropped right in and it's really bright for about 20-30ft and just "OK" for anything farther than that. My 55w halogens were noticeably better at distance though (if that matters to you). Also because the LED light isn't focused into a proper beam as good as the halogens, head-on passerby's will think you have your brights on. That part sucks.

I'm really curious what kind of distance he will get from the OEM LED light housing he purchased. Since it was designed specifically for LED the reflector "should" focus them differently.

If you want the best of everything HID seems to be the best way to go. They last a long time and you can get just about any color temperature you want. They are in-between LEDs & Halogens as far as heat and power consumption. They also have the same bulb footprint as a halogen therefore will focus the beam exactly as a halogen. The negatives are they have a separate module with each bulb that needs mounted. And they are crazy expensive for a bulb.
