Default 8:1 Gear Install Question

I read through the sticky for installing high speed gears but have a question regarding the process. It shows removing the drum, backing plate, axle, and then axle tube; is there a reason that you can't just removed the entire axle tube as an assembly? Seems you could just unbolt the axle tube from the differential housing and be done rather than taking all apart.

For anyone wondering, at least on my 2013 EZG TXT you can just unbolt the axle tube from the housing and pull it off. No need to remove the drum, c-clip, castle nut, and axle in order to crack the case and access the gears.

Honestly, can't think of a reason it wouldn't work on an older transaxle such as mine as well.

I reviewed your process and also followed someone on youtube, I trust what you all post but figured I'd try it. It didn't work at first so I started to remove the drum and c clip then realized I had forgotten to take one of the bolts out on the diff housing but once I got that bolt out it all just pulled apart. If anything happens when reinstalling I'll post it here.
