Re: New Coil, No Spark
Just went and checked. 11.4v-11.6v
I had the leads from my meter connected to the battery poles as I pushed pedal and engine turned over. I have a good ground at the coil. The ground to CDI is good. |

If so, I did have that out the other day to fix a shorted ground wire. I will go pull it out and double check those connections. Is there any way to check out the pulsar with my meter to make sure it is functioning correctly? |

Re: New Coil, No Spark
I just checked/cleaned connections (outside of motor). Then tested voltage at orange wire. It was fluctuating from 4v-15v. Mostly on the low end like before 5v-6v.
Should I pull my flywheel and check the leads coming inside the motor to the plate. They were damaged the other day, and I taped them up. Maybe something got pinched when I reinstalled my plate??? Or is is something else completely? |

Re: New Coil, No Spark
Take a voltage reading between the battery negative terminal and the engine block while cranking. If you see anything other than zero volts, install a jumper cable/wire between the battery negative and the engine block. Then check for spark.
The black wire coming out of the magneto coil, and the black wire at the CDI should both go directly to ground. The brown wire goes directly from the magneto coil to the CDI |

Re: New Coil, No Spark
I have spark! I got a nice little shock trying to hold all of that together and keep it out of the fan! HA!
Now what do I need to do? Just run a permanent jumper to the block? OR Is there something I need to fix? |

Re: New Coil, No Spark
You should be able to find 2 fuses. One is a positive fuse, and one is the negative fuse. Both are 10amps. Check to see if the negative fuse is blown.
The negative fuse comes off the negative bar between the 2 solenoids. If it isn't blown, make sure it has good connection between the bar and chassis ground. Do you have headlights on this cart? |

Re: New Coil, No Spark
I found both and they are intact.
The negative fuse is 10A The positive fuse is 30A (This is the 1982 G1) |

Re: New Coil, No Spark
I don't think the 82 takes a special fuse. It should be 10A.
Follow the wire away from both ends of the negative fuse. One end should go to the chassis, the other to the ground bar on the solenoids which leads to the battery negative terminal. Make sure all is clean and tight. There may also be a ground strap missing/unhooked between the chassis and the engine mount. |
