Got a problem
First off it's a 94 clubcar ds. My aunt got it and her husband couldn't get it started so they told me I could have it. It looks like it was in a flood. It turns over but won't crank, replaced fuel lines cleaned carb cleaned gas tank new battery motor sounds strong. Any ideas?

Re: Got a problem
Maybe check your gap on your spark plug?

Re: Got a problem
All that is good what kind of damage will water do to your generator?

Re: Got a problem
What makes you think it was flooded? Is there water in the crankcase?
Water could ruin the bearings in the starter, and might make the brushes stick in the holders if they rust. Other than that there isn't anything to hurt really. If you suspect it got water in it, pop the rubber covers off the brush end and see how it looks. If it's wet leave the covers off and let it dry out. Spray some electrical contact cleaner on the brushes and use compressed air to dry them. You don't have to have compressed air, but it'll help. If it's cranking don't worry too much about the starter/generator for now. Check for spark with a spare spark plug grounded to the block. Remove the carburetor and clean it out. Disassemble the entire thing and clean all of the ports, the pilot jet, main jet, and the air bleed tube in the center. Make sure the fuel pump is pumping fuel when the engine is cranking. |
