Club car GAS replace driven clutch
I can find any tutorials on replacing my driven clutch. I have a 96 ds gas model. The driven clutch has separated where the belt fits it. Any have a link to this process? Thanks

Re: Club car GAS replace driven clutch
Remove the belt.
Remove the bolt. Slide the clutch off. Be sure not to lose the key stock if it falls out on the ground. Sometimes the input shaft on the trans gets a little rusty and it needs a few love taps from a hammer to get it to pop loose and slide off. Before installing the new clutch sand any rust from the input shaft and coat it with anti-seize. Put a dab of blue lock-tite on the bolt and snug it down. Dunno the torque spec. something like 18-20 ft lbs if you are picky about that. I just snug them good with a box wrench. |

Re: Club car GAS replace driven clutch
You're really helpful. I appreciate it. What's the secret to keep the clutch from spinning while I'm removing the bolt? Is there a lock on it somewhere? And what's the tool I've read about to remove the clutch? I ordered one on eBay. Do I not need it?
Thanks again for your help. |

Theres no lock. You should be able to just hold it with your hand. If not, use the belt to hold ir (or a strap wrench if you have one)

Quick question, is it a backwards thread?

Re: Club car GAS replace driven clutch
Standard thread on the driven clutch bolt. Left hand threads are only on drive clutch bolt on 97 up motors.
Your drive clutch bolt should be standard thread, since the 96 motor should be a counter-clockwise rotation. If for some reason you have a clockwise motor, the drive clutch bolt will be left hand thread. No puller is needed for the driven clutch, unless for some reason it’s mega stuck. If you bought the long Bolt type puller, that’s for the drive clutch and that will come in handy. Since you’ll be removing the driven clutch, you may want to also remove the drive clutch and rebuild it. To some degree, the clutches depend on each other working properly. |
