Post EZGO TXT Gas Completely Dead

My cousin has an EZGO TXT Gas that is totally dead. It has lights but they don't work either Everything is completely dead he tells me. I am going to take a look at it on Saturday and report what I find and post it back on this thread. I just wanted to get some ideas from people on where I should start looking on the cart and what I should test or look out for first.

I will report back to this thread the next few days with info.

Saturday is the day I get to work on it but until then....Any ideas on where to look first?

Thanks,

Matt

First, obviously make sur ethe battery is good, charged, etc - then the first place I'd look would be at the grounding points (battery to frame, frame to engine, etc). Pull all the connections and clean them thoroughly, even a tiny bit of rust or corrosion can wreak havoc with your electrical.

Next, test to ensure you are getting 12v to the solenoid, and across the solenoid when the pedal is depressed. Check any fuses you may find for blown, dirty, corroded, etc - that's generally the best places to start

Seems like a good place to start. I will check all that out this Saturday when the Cart gets dropped off and report back.

Thanks, I figured I would get a head start.

Check battery terminal if clean and not corroded and tightly connected. Then check the microswitches (2). Check if all fuses are okay. Check connections to the solenoid (ground wire specially). If these are all okay, I see no reason why the cart should not start.

Now, since even the lights are not working, be sure that your battery connections and fuses are okay.

Man o man, I am in the same boat. All back together (I have spent over three weeks disassembling, sanding, painting and reassembling my early 80's EZGO) and dead as a door nail with known good battery.I did paint a lot of places in the engine compartment and wondered if I had not sabotaged myself, groundwise. I'm going to spend tomorrow cleaning all grounding points. I will let you know how it goes.

Grounds should be touching bare metal. If there is paint between the ground and the frame, then no ground has been achieved.

The good news? Easy fix. Good luck.

It took getting away from the situation and thinking it through to get religion. Nice to have you folks out there to confirm. Thanks! I feel like such a "PUTZ". I know too well about the importance of grounding.
