Default Long start question

I bought a 96 EZ-Go today. It runs fantastic and has just had the carb rebuilt in the last month. The cart is spotless and well maintained.

The only issue I have is that I have to hold the pedal down for 15+ seconds to get it to crank. After it starts it runs like a new cart. The previous owner said it has been like that for 5 years that he's owned it. Last month he took it to a shop for a carb rebuild, new coil, new wires and plugs. It came back with the same issue.

I'm thinking either the fuel pump or valve lash. This is based solely on my air-cooled VW experience.

Ideas?

Alright, valve lash adjustment it is. I'll report back after I adjust on em a bit this evening. Maybe someone else can use whatever information I discover.

Ok, got home and checked lash. Both intake valves were partially open at all times. Set last at .050. Now it starts instantly.
