Re: New guy with some old questions
Ok I need a wiring diagram.
The PO has disconnected some wires and I have not found the other end of them yet. I've sorted out most of them but I think something has been... I jumped the key switch(didn't have it) and when the FnR switch is turned to other then off the engine cranks until the switch is turned off. I don't think that is correct, it should crank/start only when the gas pedal is pressed... Anyone got the wiring diagram for the late 1990 version, I have the one out of the parts book but it is not complete. Dust |

Thought I had one but it's for an 88 Marathon.Probably won't help you.
Root around through here though and you might find something. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/ezgo-...iagram-id.html Good luck! |

Re: New guy with some old questions
Haven't found a full diagram yet but haven't had time to look ether. I am hoping that it is the micro-switch on the throttle linkage. Having built a few machine tools that used them as limit switches it is likely that I have something that will fit in a box somewhere.

After a lot of WD 40 and moving it back and forth by hand, it works perfectly now |

Re: New guy with some old questions
Ok, so the wiring to the coil is a mess (spliced back togeather multiple times) with the way this cart is set up, and wanting to go back togeather, it would be cleaner to move the coil rather then rewire. Easy enough to do.
Does it matter what way the coil is oriented? Some old coils do not like upside down for instance and that is exactly what I'm thinking I'm going to do. Dust |

Re: New guy with some old questions
Close!!!
I've had everything together and sorted out for a week or so; an adjustment here and there cranks over nicely has good voltage and grounds, >but< No spark. Voltage to the coil and the coil checks ok, Plug wire checks ok and new a plug. Everything ignition related that I have a specification for checks. Then there is the crank trigger or pulse generator and it just might be a problem. The issue is I don't have test values for it, or it could be the ignition module and I gather there is not a way to test it. I'm looking for the box in the shop that has the HEI modules because I should have a hand full of them, but I will still need the crank trigger to make the HEI work. How do you test these triggers? Thanks again! Dust |

Re: New guy with some old questions
It appears that there should be a 150-OHM resistance to the pulsar.
I have zero resistance as in the same as a piece of wire. Any special tools required to get to the pulsar? If the wires are not damaged I'll be replacing it. Thanks again! Dust |

Re: New guy with some old questions
Okkkkky.
The side of the engine was easy, the flywheel took one light tap with a hammer to pop off, the oil pump seal had failed and the inside of the cover, fan, and everything else was caked in a nice oil dirt mix. Cleaning it all up and washing the pulsar in solvent (couldn't hurt) now gives a 164-ohm resistance which is slightly the opposite of what I had, if the 75 to 150-ohm range I've seen here and there is correct... I'm really thinking that it just goes back togeather and see what happens. Dust |
