Default G1 with rotax 503 help

I have recently got my hands on a lifted g1 with a rotax 503 motor. Awesome vehicle, only downfall is it's pull start.... Looking around I see they sell a kit for electric start at a ridiculous $600. Wondering if anyone has experience with these motors and can give some insight on what I can do to get an electric start cheaper. I'm pretty handy fabricating, so I wouldn't mind doing the work. Just don't want to shell out more for the kit than I paid for the whole cart.

The 503 has been a reliable performer in the ultralight aircraft field for many years. Can be had with single or dual ignition and carbs. A far as electric start your best bet is to watch flea-bay or visit the Barnstormers site in hopes of finding something used. Rotax parts don't come cheap.
Good luck with your project.

You could use your factory starter/gen. You might have to fix a pulley to the backside of your clutch, or use a golf cart clutch of some sort.

Thanks for the info guys. I have noticed rotax parts are pricey... Probably why the guy who sold me the cart pretty much have it away. I'll try to retro an old g1 starter gen I have in the garage. Maybe I can get it to work out. Thanks again

That setup is "uncharted territory" and sometimes you just have to give it a try and rig something up.
