Re: 500cc G1, Belt trouble
Been here, done this on my G16 with a Polaris 500cc atv engine...Had everyone telling me that my clutches were not lined up too. .... If you feel they are lined up - then just find a extra heavy duty belt. I ate up my stock golf cart belts in a few minutes for lunch. Then, after digging around on ebay, I found a heavy duty (Gates rubber) RZR belt. Now, it took a while for that belt to break in, but once it did, she's good to go! Now the belt doesn't slip, squeal, or get hot. Try that before moving your clutches around. I think it was a $80.00 investment to solve the issue.

Re: 500cc G1, Belt trouble
All I did to find a belt was type in the belt size I wanted and found one. Searching for my specific vehicle turned up nothing, seeing how there are not that many enticer G1's out there.lol.

Yeah I've been searching, all I can find is a Dayco and a Gates the right length, but they both seem relatively thin....

Re: 500cc G1, Belt trouble
Soooooo, got a Gates, just went on a road test, things seemed good. Gunned it from a stop, hit 50mph, blew the belt right off.
Definitely think I need something snowmobile tough here. |

Re: 500cc G1, Belt trouble
Did it just throw the belt off or is it shredded?
Did you re-check the clutch alignment as I described above? |

Yep, rechecked clutch alignment, and it is shredded....
Also, the hex clutch I'm running got jammed up with belt pieces, upon disassembly I found some bushing issues, so I'm gonna sort them out while its apart. Wondering if the inner and outer sheave on the clutch losing alignment could be the root of my causes.... I'm considering trying to find an original G1 clutch to replace the hex clutch, since the driven pulley spring probably doesn't match the drive pulley.... The original clutch from the cart is trashed, worn through on the moving sheave, and I broke the stationary one trying to press the pulley/stationary sheave off the shaft. |
