15 EZGO RXV - Cable upgrade
This is my first post on here. I just purchased a new project and switching from a Yamaha G29 gas to EZGO electric, big step here.
First step I need to change out the cables. I am trying to figure out what I need purchase to build my own cable set and if I am missing any cables from my list. Is upgrading the wires worth it if you cant change the motor wires? My goal is to prepare for Navitas in the future. Battery: - 10.0 inches long - 12.7 inches long - 12.7 inches long Solenoid: 1 cable 27 inches (Red) 1 cable 8.7 inches (Red) Controller: 1 cable 21 inches black |

I believe the motor cables are already 4g, as opposed to the stock 6g battery cables.
Also, AC power transmits through cables more efficiently than DC does (or else we would all be using Edisons DC power distribution system) |

Re: 15 EZGO RXV - Cable upgrade
Also, the motor is 3-phase, while the DC cables to the controller and those connecting the batteries together have to carry the combined amps of all three phases.
---------- FWIW: Edison (DC) vs Westinghouse (AC) power distribution systems. The DC resistance and the AC impedance of the transmission lines are roughly the same and at the same voltage (RMS for the AC) the line loss would be roughly the same. Since you can move a megawatt of power from point A to point B by pushing 2A through the wire with 500kV or 5000A at 200V, and the higher the amp flow through the same resistance, the greater the transmission loss. So Westinghouse (AC) won the battle because their was no practical way to step DC up in voltage for long distance transmission and then down in voltage for use. |

So if the motor cables are 4g, is changing to 2/0 welding cable overkill?
