42V
I am thinking of adding a battery to my 36V TXT with stock controller and solenoid. Is this a good or bad idea. I have the F/R switch conversion all 2AWG wire new batteries and 23” tires. Runs 14MPH how it sits. Looking for ideas while waiting to replace motor and controller next year.
What is the best option for this or any thoughts appreciated I attached some pics. Bought the cart for $100 looked rough and revived her pretty well so far |

Re: 42V
Go ahead & add that extra battery. Then, you'll have the "opportunity" to replace your controller earlier than planned.
How do you plan on charging 7 batteries? the stock charger wont do it. Honestly, I'd go for it, knowing that extra battery will likely nudge me into the new controller. Wait, I already tried that (just add more volts) with my otherwise stock marathon, it lasted less than a month. |

Re: 42V
Thanks for the input. I have a Lester Summit charger. My goal is an eventual conversion to 48v
Will putting a Alltrax 400-500A and new he solenoid allow me to go to 48V on the stock motor? Or will I need to upgrade the motor to? |

Re: 42V
Your stock motor will run great on 48v. 33% more speed & torque.

Re: 42V
So 2 more batteries and an Alltrax 500A (or dialed down to 400A) with heavy duty solenoid? I already have the F\R conversion and all 2AWGwire every where
I can wait on the motor for a future upgrade How fast with 23” tires do you think |

Re: 42V
You said it goes 14mph. So, 14x1.33=18.62mph. ("x1.33" is for "adding 33%")

Re: 42V
Would you go for a Curtis 500A or an Alltrax?

Re: 42V
I have an ezgo txt 36 volt and I am wanting to convert to 42 as well. I currently have an alltrax 500 amp controller, amd 7122 motor, and changed to a reversing contactor from the heavy duty f&r lever. I also have a 6inch lift and 23 inch tires. By myself in the cart I can get 27mph. With 2 people in the cart about 22-24 depending on weight. The only reason I haven't upgraded to 42v is because my cart is fast with the upgrades and has good range....and I have to buy a new charger...so not in any rush.
