72v conversion from 6-12s to 9-8v
Hello - I have a bad boy instinct 72v model. It is time for new batteries and started doing a bit of research on here and noticed quite a few threads on changing to 8v instead of 12v batteries on some 48v carts. Wondering if i should look at doing this if i can fit the batteries. Anyone think I would notice a difference in range? Would my dpi charger still work? Appreciate any feedback!!

Re: 72v conversion from 6-12s to 9-8v
If the 72V pack was made up with Trojan T-1275 12V-150AH batteries, it would store about 10.8kWh of energy and weigh about492 pounds.
If the 72V pack was made up with Trojan T-875 8V-170AH batteries, it would store about 15.3kWh of energy and weigh about 567 pounds. So you'd get about 43.7% more range using 8V-170AH batteries, but lose a bit performance due to 75 pounds of additional weight. Yes, the 72V DPI charger would work. |
