Is a windshield needed?
I'm fairly new to golf carts and picked mine up a couple months ago. It included a fold down wind shield. When I was repainting the body, I took everything apart and for a few days, I drove it around without a windshield or roof. I actually liked it when it wasn't sunny. I felt the breeze far better (anything helps when it is 90+ with 80% humidity). I have put it back on now and miss having it off. My wife also doesn't like it as it folds right in her line of vision (she is vertically challenged). This all makes me wonder why nearly every golf cart has a windshield. Is it really only there for when it rains or does it provide some other useful purpose? Perhaps if it were colder I would be saying the opposite about wanting to feel the breeze but that would make me think I should take it off in the summer and leave it on in the winter.

Re: Is a windshield needed?
I really prefer to run a cart without a windshield. You get a little more wet if it rains, but you get wet anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.
I have a couple carts that I took the roofs off and those are all kinds of fun. |

Re: Is a windshield needed?
This is a great question and boils down to what you like. Like the guys above I don't use windshields in anything (except for a carryall with a cab). I also have a cart without a top for stargazing at night.

Re: Is a windshield needed?
Thank you all. The windshield is coming off. I don't drive it if it looks like rain so should be safe. I absolutely loved driving it around without the roof. I may pull that off in the cooler months too. Felt faster!!

Driving at dusk around here this time of year can get you a face full of bugs without one. Less of an issue if you always wear glasses, of course.

Drive mine to work almost every day. I'd like to take it off as it rattles A LOT! Glad it was on there as I came home in the pouring rain.
