Default Resetting Digital Charge Meter

I have recently installed a Digital Charge meter in a 95 EZ go Medalist Cart. Everything seemed to work OK until I did my first recharge on the Batteries. After the charger shut off the meter still showed the same reading as when I did the recharge. In other words it didn't show full. I read in one of the posts that if you disconnected one of the neg cables in the middle of the battery pack and left it for a while and then reconnected it that the meter would reset itself and show full. Well, I did what was suggested and lo and behold it did show full. Now my question is this, do I have to do that everytime I recharge the batteries. Seems like a real pain if that is the case, or, is this something that will resolve itself if I drove it. In other words would it reset itself after a few seconds or minutes...?????? Any help would be appreciated..

Disconnect the meter, Allow the batteries to fully charge. Reconnect the meter, leave it connected. Try it for a few charge cycles. If it's not working correctly after that, let us know.

OK, I recharged batteries with meter unhooked and then reconnected meter. Meter shows full. Will let you know what happens after a few charges. Thanks Again for your advice...
