Default 1999 36v ezgo dcs sepex runs in reverse but not forward

I have a 1999 36v ezgo dcs cart with sepex motor that runs great in reverse but in forward it makes a sound in the rear that sounds like it is trying to run but is not engaging in the axle. I know my batteries are not good because they only charge up to a little over 34 volts but since it runs well in reverse I do not understand why it will not run in forward and sounds like it does. Any ideas on what could be the problem will be appreciated. I hate to buy new batteries until I know the cart will work without major expense.

First, I'd avoid even testing it with bad batteries. 1) the cars almost always run a bit more in reverse than forward or only use half the voltage to achieve half speed reverse so reverse will work when forward lacks the volts/amps to do so.

2), DCS cars are notorious for letting the smoke out of the controllers in low voltage situations--no low voltage protection.

It sounds like a typical sign of a bad DCS controller but get some good batteries in there and make sure the FNR micro switches are working right.

Got batteries that check out over 36v. Now runs great in forward and reverse if back wheels are jacked up but only runs reverse if on ground. Seems to try to go forward but will not.

Swap the white and black F1 and F2 wires on the controller and see if the problem changes direction.

I will try that. I am currently trying to charge batteries since they really go down under a load. That may be the problem.

That is a problem... remember reverse may be reduced speed (reduced load )
