How much does a new 4 stroke starter/gen. cost?
Dropped on concrete floor, now it will run for a little bit then freeze up.
What can I expect to pay at an ezgo dealer? Not interested in rebuilding it, don't want problems down the road. |

For a good quality, OEM unit, look to spend +/-$300.
For a BU quality one, $199.99 should get you plenty of headaches. |

BU doesn't even list them on the site that I can see. They have them for 2 strokes, not 4's. Don't understand that one. I do tend to agree with you though about the headaches.
It still pisses me off that they are the most expensive supplier of the 28 degree driven clutch, when they claim they are the cheapest. They have taken full advantage of the popularity of that part. I purchased one for $80.00 from a guy that works for an ezgo company. Thay are making a killing. |

There may be a place in your area that specializes in rebuilding starters. I had my 96 Arctic Cat's worn out starter rebuilt by a local auto repair shop for about $70. They did an excellant job on it and even made it look new again. That would be your best bet!

Re: How much does a new 4 stroke starter/gen. cost?
Thanks for the suggestions. I did buy a new one, didn't want to chance getting stranded in the boonies. I will keep the old one for spare parts. Both my carts have this starter. $295.00 is what I pd. and it came with pulley. It's only money....
