Default "New" EZGO GC questions

I just got a new to us 2003 36v EZGO cart. I've been reading up and trying to learn.

The cart has 12" wheels/ low profile tires and batteries are about 1 year old Trojans.

I'm thinking about getting one of the speed chips.

Also reading about a run/tow switch. What is this?

Hi!
Run/Tow switch should be under the seat on passenger side towards the top of the controller cover.
Where is your Forward/Reverse switch located?
If it is in the dash, then you should be able to use the speed chips (actually they are just connectors with different combo's of wire loops on them).
ALWAYS set the Run/Tow switch to Tow before you tow the cart or do any electrical work on it. It can get expensive quick if you don't!

if your f-n-r switch is below your right leg you cant put in a speed chip. you have a fleet cart. It could also be a DCS cart. Look at the f-n-r switch with the seat raised, if it looks like a silver hockey puck with wires going to it than you have a DCS cart and I recommend you sell it to your enemy, b/c there is a reason EZGo only produced it 2-3 years. They are trouble.

Not picking on ya' CC but 1999-2000 was the last year for a DCS. OP's 2003 is either PDS or Fleet/Series. You're spot on about the DCS tho'. It's all good.

Not picking on you PG But the Ezgo dealer here swears by the DCS carts 36 & 48v. They do in fact produce more seat of the pants torque than the pds models. All of their problems are directly related to low voltage situations. So he puts a SOC meter on the dash of them all and they are hard running little carts??????? Go figure

The cart is fine, but it cannot utilize the speed chip options.

No problem PGG, I wasn't sure the years of the DCS carts. I have read and been told different years of production.

I personally would rather have a fleet cart instead of a PDS but that just me. I know it has more wires, but the controllers are little cheaper and easier to figure out when cart wont move.
