Default 2008 EZ GO TXT shutdown

Just bought a 2008 EZGO TXT with lift kit and large tires. 36-volt system, all new batteries, etc. Fully charged it (according to the charger). Took it to the dove field yesterday - two of us riding in it taking a cooler full of water and soft drinks to hunters. Halfway across the field, while going through soft dirt, it dies. Turned it off, let it sit for a couple of minutes, turn it back on, and it runs. Did it twice more before I can get it back to the truck. Let it sit a while, and it runs fine on the dirt road to the house. Today, while towing a small trailer around the edge of a field, it does the same thing (once). Any idea what's going on and how it can be fixed? Can't use it if its not going to be dependable.

Welcome to BGW

sounds like you have a PDS cart,, where is the F/R switch on the dash on the the body of your cart, next to your knee? does it have a TOW/RUN switch on the cover of the controller under the seat on the passenger side of the cart?, Pds carts do not like big tires and soft dirt and pulling heavy things with a stock controller, you need a 400 anp after market controller, or, put the stock wheels and tires back on the cart,, the stock controller is going in to thermal shut down

The F/R switch is at the knee. No tow switch. Read some other stuff about thermal shutdown after your post. Sounds like that is the problem. Will be calling my dealer tomorrow. Thanks.
