Tightening of motor electric studs
Hello I was reading an old post explaining how the tightening the solenoid studs is the same as the tightening of the motor studs - I totally understand the double wrench system for the terminal but on my motor I noticed the nuts that tighten the stud itself to the motor body were not really good and tight, so I "snugged" them and then double wrench tightened the terminals - is over tightening the stud nut to the body or brushes as critical as the solenoid stud tightening ? Thanks, Mike (hopefully be new this question is allowed)

Re: Tightening of motor electric studs
there are no dumb questions
you have to be careful when tightening the nut to the brush stud so it won't pull the wire off , i only tighten it when i have the motor off and can see i didn't fudge it up |

Re: Tightening of motor electric studs
You do not want the stud to rotate and you don't want to strip the threads.

Re: Tightening of motor electric studs
One trick that works when the motor is out is to cut a slot in the end of the stud.
Insert a screwdriver in the slot when tightening the bottom nut. When the torque of the wrench starts to over power the screwdriver, you're done. . |
