Purchase from golf cart garage or Jason’s golf carts????
Gonna buy a motor controller kit for 2004 precedent. Wanting the aggressive terrain. Both sites have it at comparable price. Who should I order it from? Any good recommendations or coupon codes?
Thanks |

Have you checked carts unlimited? They are also a forum sponsor.

Re: Purchase from golf cart garage or Jason’s golf carts????
I have dealt with Jason's once but only for tires/wheels. Cheaper than most and free shipping was fast. Got exactly what they said I would get.
I agree you should check out http://www.cartsunlimited.net/club-car.html The way I read it, the same package is about the same price but it also comes with custom made battery cables and a nice battery SOC meter with dash trim kit. (option 4) You'll have to probably contact them by email to get the exact motor (A4) as it isn't listed as a preset package. They may also have other suggestions that you haven't thought about. Very fast shipping (my experience) and excellent customer support before and after the sale. |

And here is another set to look at for comparison purposes from Revolution Golf Cars (TahoeDawgZ71)

Yep, I don't know what I was thinking. David at Revolution is a club car specialist. If you tell him what you want the cart to do, he has probably already built it many times over. He knows what works and what doesn't.

The "Aggressive Terrain" package is terminology that is derived from RedHawk's motor/controller packages that you're seeing online. Those kits consist of an Alltrax XCT500IQ, MOT-A4 motor, 400 amp solenoid, a diode, and a resistor. What the kit doesn't include is a 2 gauge cable set that is necessary to power these components. Make sure you get that as well.

And save your self some money, if that kit includes a suppression diode and pre-charge resistor, it is a waste as you do not use it on the current XCT line as it is all handled internally through the controller for its own protection. You should get a Regen Diode (6 amp) to be installed on the large post to protect the controller from a regenerative current surge.
A good source/supplier is going to tell you that and the thing about ours here is they "will" program it for you so when you take it out the box and install it, you will have a performance tuned controller to your specific application with the appropriate map installed. Re: Purchase from golf cart garage or Jason’s golf carts????
I already have the 2 gauge cables. I’m making this a hunting cart on hilly terrain. I enjoy DIY and tinkering so I’m looking forward to the upgrade and learning the programming side. I already have a few friends wanting me to possibly upgrade their carts. I’ve rebuilt a few carts but never got into programmable controllers. How hard is it to program and wire this kit? I want a lot of torque but I also want to be conservative and protect the hardware.

Re: Purchase from golf cart garage or Jason’s golf carts????
Programming is fairly intuitive. As with all technology it helps if you have some technical experience. Alltrax offers free software you can download and install on your laptop/PC and they offer a PDF manual which pretty much explains each setting. Some stuff is overlooked in the manual like throttle bell curves and effects of turf vs street mode.
It's real easy to program the cart to a standstill if you just start clicking buttons to see what they do. Remember to save the original settings to file before you start playing with it. Few people actually need more than the A2 10 hp motor and a 500a controller. The A4 is useful if the tires, the hills, and the passengers, are too big. lol |
