A fun question..

I've fixed the car I had this symptom on, but I have had it more than once, and with multiple different causes....

On a newer style DS 2000 or up, sometimes the car will run great when cold, but go for 30 minutes or so, then when its warm, it won't restart easily...

It is almost always on a lifted off road car.

The two solutions I have found to this are

1. A Gas tank vent line clogged
2. A Carb Vent line clogged


Any thoughts?

On a lifted cart the carb is tilted causing an over full carb bowl that will wet the overflow tube and cause dirt to build up eventually closing it off.

I thought for sure I was gonna win something. hehehe

The only time i've had a clogged vent tube was on my daughters CC from muddobbers. Only on the CC, never on the yamaha's or ezgo's.
The first of every summer when we unwinterize, I always forget from the year before and waste an hour before remembering the tube..
I got a little in tank fuel filter for a chainsaw or weedeater and stuck on the end of the tube. No more problems.

The filter idea is a good one...

A lot of Club Cars I see don't even have that vent tube anymore. All it does is run right down do the chassis for mud and crap to collect in it. Yank that thing off there!

The filter idea works on other things as well. For K&N Intakes on the Yamaha 285s, there is no place for the block vacuum to hook back up. I took a fuel filter and cut the longest end off it leaving about a 1/2" hole for it to breathe through.

I would never do that...(not more than once a car anyways).

I would think if you have fuel dripping or running out of it you have other problems.......needle and seat leaking or float set to high?

I agree that any gas leak is not a good thing and should be corrected: definitely a problem somewhere with the float, fuel pump, line, etc...
